Where it Started and Where it is Now
From my very first post-college job wandering through Minnesota forests in head-to-toe mosquito netting, to years of teaching environmental education, to slowly upgrading from tents to vans to RVs — my relationship with nature has grown and evolved right alongside my life. What started as a summer of learning the names of plants became a lifelong love of the outdoors, and eventually a shared journey with Krissy as we built our own version of “camping” through each new season of life. Now, as we look toward full-time RV living, I’m reflecting on what really matters to me: the non-negotiables, the comforts, the challenges, and the joy of being outside. This is where it started — and where it is now.

Two People, One Decision
Buying an RV should’ve been simple—but when two people think and decide in completely different ways, “simple” doesn’t exist. From therapy lessons to test drives, Anne shares how she and Krissy learned that communication and compromise matter just as much as floor plans and fuel types.
Full Time RVing: Why us? Why me?
We grew up believing life was supposed to follow the same script: work hard, save, and only travel once you retire. But a health scare and a lot of reflection reminded us that what matters most is each other, our health, and truly living while we can. For us, that means full-time RV life — slow travel, nature, and experiences over things.
Adventuring with your Taste buds
Even though we haven’t been able to travel much this year, we’ve been finding adventure in new ways—through our taste buds! Thanks to a Universal Yums subscription, we’ve “visited” 12 countries in a year with snacks, trivia, and fun surprises. From fried egg potato chips in Spain to pine candies that only I loved, it’s been a delicious journey.
September Minimalist Challenge
We’re tackling the September Minimalist Challenge—letting go of 930 items this month to prep for full-time RV life. It’s freeing, messy, and a little bittersweet.
Traveling Solo
Most of the time, Krissy and I want to travel together — it’s why we dream of going full-time in the RV. But every once in a while, a solo trip is just what we need. Mine look like hiking boots and quiet reflection; hers involve hammocks, gadgets, and water views. Here’s how we each “reset and renew” when traveling alone.
Traveling Separate vs. Traveling Alone
Sometimes we plan solo trips on purpose. Other times, work schedules force us to miss our favorite vacations together — and that’s a whole different feeling. Here’s how we handle the FOMO, stay connected, and still make the best of it. 🧳💛 #TravelTogether #CoupleGoals
What isn’t he scared of…
“Douglas is scared of wind, loud noises, vibrations… and honestly, just existing. Greta is his tiny emotional support sister who somehow makes everything worse. We’ve got three years to figure out how to RV full-time with two anxious dogs and a whole lotta hope. Got tips? We’re all ears—unless there’s thunder.”
It’s Not Always Where You Go
A last-minute mountain getaway turned into exactly what we needed. Sometimes it’s not about where you go—it’s about getting away, unplugging from the noise, and being with your favorite person. In this post, I share a weekend full of fire pit laughs, Winnebago mishaps, and the kind of moments that make you grateful for slow mornings and secondhand RVs.
Vacationing vs Adventuring
Krissy and I just got back from Mexico, and this time it wasn’t an adventure — it was a vacation. You know, the kind with naps, cocktails, and zero hiking boots. In this post, I’m sharing how we balance vacationing and adventuring each year — and why both types of trips matter to us (even if Krissy keeps beating me at cards).
Camping with Dogs: Our Windy Weekend at Jackson Lake
Weekend camping with four dogs, three humans, and two paddle boats — what could go wrong?
We kicked off RV season at Jackson Lake State Park, a favorite spot for us (and the dogs), thanks to open space, a real lake, and usually… decent weather. This time? Not so much. Between the wind, rain, and cold, we had to ditch the boats, skip the swimsuits, and get creative with campfire meals (spoiler: no fire). But with good food, great games, and four muddy, happy pups, we still managed to turn a chaotic trip into a cozy memory.
Finally Getting the RV Ready for Our First Camping Trip of the Season
After months of waiting, we’re finally dusting off the RV and heading to one of our favorite spots—Jackson Lake State Park. It’s a short weekend trip, but we’re making the most of it with good friends, a pack of happy dogs, and plenty of campfire laughs. I spent this weekend getting the rig ready, scrubbing, flushing, and filling—all the glamorous RV prep stuff. Come along for our first camping trip of the season and see why this place keeps calling us back.
Why Do a Yard/Garage Sale?
My favorite part? The free pile. Watching people’s faces when you tell them it’s actually free? Priceless. Some asked three times just to be sure. People were genuinely grateful. And while the money is great (we made just over $1,100!), the community part? That’s the gold.
