Rugs in an RV:Making Our RV Feel More Like Home
Krissy and I have always disagreed on flooring. Krissy loves the cozy comfort of carpet, while I prefer the ease and cleanliness of hardwood floors. In our house, we have compromised with a mix of both and, of course, the addition of rugs.
This compromise has gotten even easier with washable rugs. Seriously, whoever decided we should be able to throw a rug in the washing machine was onto something!
Washable rugs give us some of the cozy feeling Krissy loves without making me completely give up the easy-to-clean floors I prefer. They are also an easy way to add décor, color, and a little bit of your personality to a space.
Why We Added Rugs to Our RV
Of course, our flooring debate followed us right into the RV.
Lucky has hard flooring, which I appreciate because RV life means tracking in dirt, grass, sand, dog messes, and whatever else we manage to drag inside. Easy-to-clean floors just make sense.
But adding rugs to our RV has made the space warmer and more comfortable. More importantly, they have helped make Lucky feel like our home instead of just a vehicle we take camping.
Washable Rugs Make Sense in an RV
For us, washable rugs are a great compromise in the RV. We get the color, personality, and comfort of a rug without committing to carpet.
And when you have dogs, travel, camp, and generally plan to drag the outdoors inside with you on a regular basis, being able to wash the damn rug is a pretty important feature!
A rug is also an easy way to change the look of an RV without doing a major renovation. RV interiors aren't always known for having a ton of personality, so even something as simple as a rug can make the space feel more like yours.
Making an RV Feel Like Home
As we continue getting Lucky ready to eventually become our full-time home, I am realizing how much these little things matter.
Home isn't just the walls, the floors, or where you park it. Sometimes it's the little choices you make that turn a space into yours.
For us, apparently, one of those choices is rugs.
